Ceris Davies
Bespoke Seamstress

Founded by Ceris Davies in 2011

After gaining a degree in Fashion Design, I worked for many years in London’s West End, on some amazing musicals and operas.  During this time I developed my knowledge of couture sewing techniques, from some of the most experienced people in the industry.  Although I still work on a wide variety of commissions, my love for attention to detail has naturally led me to designing and making couture bridal and occasion wear.

I am able to work with you to create your own bespoke garment for any occasion.  Creating your perfect dress is a very personal and exciting experience, from design to the final fitting.  All my dresses are hand made using beautiful fabrics sourced in the UK.  As I invest a lot of time into every gown I make, the quality of the final creation is very important to me, however simple or complicated the design.

You are very welcome to book an appointment for a free consultation to discuss your specific ideas and the process in more detail.  Wether you are looking to have a bespoke garment designed or you have your own ideas, I can help guide and develop it into a final, beautiful garment.

Bespoke garments such as Bridal Gowns vary in cost depending on complexity of design and fabric choices, but I would be able to give you a quote during an initial meeting once I have an understanding of what you are looking for.

Bring along inspirational pictures and ideas so I can get a real understanding of what would be your perfect dress.  I have fabric and lace samples for you to peruse and can guide you through what would work with your ideas.

The Design

The Design

Once I have an understanding of what you like, I will sketch a few designs based around our discussions.  I will then email you the designs along with quotes. From this point we can finalise the design together, adding or changing parts until it’s exactly what you invisioned.

The Toile

The Toile

The Toile is a basic mock up of your dress made from cotton calico.  This is an important part of the process as I will pin the toile to fit you perfectly and any modifications can then be transferred back to the paper pattern. If it is a particularly complicated design, it may need a couple of toile fittings.  At this point we would finalise the design, and the fabrics so that the next stage can be making the actual dress.

Once the dress starts taking shape in the real fabrics, it may require at least 3 fittings at various stages along the way.  During this process you can see your dress develop and you will be able to have input into any tweaks at each fitting.

“My wedding dress and Ceris were a dream.  I couldn’t possibly have wished for more.  Ceris’ dedication towards my dress was overwhelming.  The hours spent and the attention to detail allowed the dress to reach perfection and was everything I asked of her.  Her creativity and flare made the dress extra special and totally original.  I felt amazing on my wedding day and the comments on the day went a little like –  that is the most beautiful wedding dress I have ever seen!”

Lucy Thatcher

“Ceris created the most beautiful wedding dress for me, more stunning than I could have hoped for! Due to unforeseen circumstances I found myself without a wedding dress 6 weeks before our wedding, but Ceris was fantastic – she designed and created the dress so I had one more beautiful than my last in plenty of time for our big day!!! Her attention to detail, creativity and patience are incredible. Nothing was too much trouble, she was great fun to work with and I personally feel that she created a dress more beautiful and unique than anything I had seen in any wedding shops. I can’t thank her enough and will be recommending her to all of my friends.”

Zoe Duhig

“Thank you so much for everything you have done with the Bridesmaid dresses, they have exceeded my expectations, I love them.  They were so perfect, I can’t explain how wonderful it was to find you.”

I just want to say how much I LOVE my dress! You are super talented & you really listened to what I was saying even though I didn’t have a clue what I was talking about & then you added so much more!! You made what I thought was going to be a horrendous process into an enjoyable one.
